RetroSpace FAQ
RetroSpace is a single-player immersive sim launching October 1, 2026 on PC and consoles, with a free Steam demo available now and no price announced.
Answers below come from the official store page, the official site discopunk.space, and the developer's own Steam announcements. Where something is genuinely unknown, the answer says so instead of guessing.

When does RetroSpace come out?
October 1, 2026. The date was revealed by the developer in August 2026 and repeated in the release-date trailer and the console announcements.
What platforms is it on?
PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch 2 — all at launch.
Who is making it?
Developed by The Wild Gentlemen and published by Kwalee.
Is it single-player only?
Yes. The store lists single-player as the only mode: no co-op, no multiplayer.
Can I play it now?
Yes — the demo has been on Steam since June 11, 2026, and it is free. It has received two large updates since release, so if you played it early, the systems you remember have changed. See the demo guide for what those updates did.
Is it a horror game or a shooter?
Both, deliberately. The developer calls it immersive disco-punk space horror and describes survival horror elements, but the official framing is that fighting is one of several ways to solve a problem, alongside stealth, hacking, diversions, traps and hidden routes. If you want to avoid combat entirely, the game is designed to allow it.
How hard is the death system?
Dying creates a new clone of you, and cloning is imperfect — the game calls the result cloning errors. Your previous body stays where it fell with your equipment, and returning to it lets you recover gear and draw genes. The developer explicitly re-tuned this system after demo feedback, including on the demo's medium difficulty, where inventory items are no longer lost on death. See Death, cloning and rebirth.
What are Mutamods?
Mutamods™ are body mutations that upgrade stealth, combat, exploration or mobility, with side effects described as unexpected and irreversible. The official site's example of a build is a tentacle-armed, mind-controlling, shadow-lurking mutant. See Mutamods explained.
Is there a wiki or an official guide?
There is no official wiki from the developer or publisher. Community wikis and value sites for unreleased games are usually written from trailers; this site only publishes what can be traced to a primary source, and marks everything else as unconfirmed.
Is the demo's progress saved for the full game?
Not announced. The developer has not said whether demo saves, unlocks or progress carry into the retail build, so plan on starting fresh.
How big is the game? How long is it?
Not published. No official playtime, area count or mission count has been released. Steam lists no length estimate.
Will there be mod support or a level editor?
Not announced. Nothing in the store feature list or the developer's announcements mentions mod tools.
Does it run on Steam Deck?
Unknown. Steam Deck compatibility has not been published, so treat claimed verification as unconfirmed.
How do I report something wrong on this site?
Through the contact page. Corrections with a reproducible detail — the page, the line, and what you saw in game — get fixed and the page's verification date is bumped.
